The Croatian Students and Young Professionals Network CSYPN (Croatian Students and Young Professionals Network, www.csypn.org.uk). is a private, non-profit, volunteer-based organisation promoting and encouraging a Croatian network in the United Kingdom. We organise and support a wide range of activities: Croatian film festivals, charitable concerts, lecture series and social events.
CSYPN provides a platform for academic, social and business contacts between the United Kingdom and Croatia; an expanding network of ideas where students, artists, scholars and professionals come together, interact and exchange ideas and skills.
In 2001. CSYPN started its Language Project — a series of lectures about the Croatian language. As that year was pronounced the EL* Year of Language, the whole project gained even more importance. One of the project's main aims is to increase the awareness of all aspects of Croatian language and culture among academics, students and the general public in the United Kingdom. By publishing this book which contains two essays on literary Croat, we complete the first stage of the project.
