A guide that shows the culture and natural heritage of one of the most beautiful coasts on the Mediterranean. It provides a wealth of information, making sure that everyone who comes to the Adriatic or its hinterland comes to the familiar. The guide has been made along the lines of the tourist guides created by the famous Karl Baedecker, and anyone who has a copy of this manual has no need of any other guide.
The guide contains 16 city plans, 27 maps and 616 photographs. In terms of regions, it is divided into six units (Istria, Kvarner, the Velebit coast, north, central and south Dalmatia) and 16 chapters (Poreč, Rovinj, Pula, Rijeka, the Kvarner islands, Senj and Velebit, Zadar, the north Dalmatian islands, Šibenik, Trogir, Split, the central Dalmatian islands, Makarska, the Neretva delta, the south Dalmatian islands, and Dubrovnik).
From north to south about 500 towns and villages are described, as well as the cultural and historical features of interest and things of natural beauty including eight national parks). The guide gives information about tradition, culture and national customs, offers tips about wining and dining. With encyclopaedia-style entries it also recalls famed Croats of the past whose life and work were connected with the Adriatic but went beyond the regional and national context.
